Ultrasound imaging performed with vaginal sonde is used to monitor the progress of the growing fetus and a safe delivery. Gynaecological ultrasound imaging is indicated in the following cases:
- Suspected pathological conditions and their monitoring
- Womb myomas, ovarian tumours, inflammatory conditions, intrauterine devices, endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, trophoblastic tumours, uterine anomalies, genital aplasia or hypoplasia
- Conditions deemed as unfavourable on palpatory examination
- Abdominal muscle rigidity, tension due to painful sensitivity or obesity, limited body mobility, virgo intacta, vaginal stricture in elderly patients, patients with vulval burns
- Monitoring of physiological processes (endometrium proliferation, follicle development, ovulation detection)
- Early and late postoperative complications in the lesser pelvic region
- Pregnancy diagnosis and monitoring, fetus development monitoring
